Today I got caught in the rain. It was a Cambodia rain.
I was on my way to the fruit truck to buy fruit for lab tomorrow. It's about 5 blocks away and just as I reached 47th street, the skies opened and tiny droplets of water soon drenched everything. But it wasn't an oppressive rain; it was a rejuvenating rain. It was a brief respite from the oppressive humidity that has recently engulfed Philly. It was a soft pattering of rain, gently watering the plants. It was a sunny rain, one of those happy rains where the sky is blue. It was an unexpected rain where people were caught off guard and running for shelter. It was a comforting rain, creating a soft melody as it fell to the earth. By the time I bought the fruit the rain had ended. Half an hour later everything was dry, as if it had never rained.
This rain was a welcomed rain. It was a rain that reminded me of lunchtime showers as I lounged in my hammock. It was a rain that reminded me of hot coffee on lazy mornings. It was a rain that reminded me of the beauty in this place, here in Philly.
